Introducing.. wonderful Wendy!
Wendy's Story:
Wendy is a worried, young dog that has had a really tough start it life.
She was rescued from a Romanian shelter where she'd spent her life growing up with her brother Bob. Wendy was offered space with a rescue over in the UK and as upsetting as it was to split the siblings, it was believed that they could cope without each other and the opportunity for Wendy to start a new life in the UK was a rarity so it had to be taken up.
After a long trip from Romania to the UK, Wendy was placed into a foster home [via the charity that had accepted her]. Unfortunately, the foster carers left poor Wendy alone for more than 6 hours on her first day and ripped up their lino, and so they wanted rid!
She went back to the rescue where she was so scared and was trying to escape her areas to get to the other dogs. Wendy has only every known dogs her whole life and they are her safety blanket, understandably, she wanted to be with them to feel safer than it felt to be alone, especially after the past few days that she had just endured.
The rescue said that they couldn't keep her and that she needed to leave straight away. Luckily, the charity that brought Wendy over stepped in, put Wendy into boarding and then called us to see if we could help. We'd just had a dog rehomed the night before and so we had a space available for her. We jumped in the car and drove a 5 hour round trip to collect the frightened little soul.
Oakwood will be Wendy's last stop now before she goes on to her forever home, however long this may take to find.
Bio:

With other dogs:
So far, Wendy has shown that her confidence really grows when she is around other dogs. Although we are still not able to touch Wendy, when she is with all of her doggy friends, her whole demeaner changes and she is so much happier, she has even started coming over for little sniffs of the staff, when the other dogs are there to back her up.
Unfortunately, Wendy has shown signs of guarding in her kennel if she is in there with another dog. We will be monitoring this and trialling her in kennel shares when the time is right. We are unsure yet if we would be able to place Wendy in a home with another however, we are not ruling it out at this time.
With cats:
Wendy is untested with cats. We need to work on being able to handle her and have her be confident enough to have a collar and lead on to be able to take her for cat testing.
Active energy
Wendy is currently quite shut down due to being so timid. She is a young dog that has a lot of confidence to gain and once settled, she could have moderate to high energy levels
0 -2 hrs to start
During her very short stay in her foster home, Wendy shoed severe signs of stress. Wendy will need to be left alone as little as possible whilst she settles into a home and realises that she is safe
Lead trained
Wendy is not yet lead trained. This will come once she learns to trust us at the rescue
Training required
Wendy has no form of basic training. This will all come in time once she has settled and learnt to fully trust her adopters
