Introducing.. Gertie!

Gertie's story:

Gertie, like many of our other dogs, has come from a Romanian kill shelter. Unfortunately due to lock down and travel restrictions, she got stuck there for a lot longer than we had originally planned. After a long 2-3 years wait, she finally arrived at Oawkood November 2023.

Gertie is clearly very scared of humans and this is completely understandable after what she has been through. She would've endured mistreatment and neglect on a daily basis so it will understandably take time for her to learn to trust people but she is already showing signs of wanting to interact with us by slowly coming forward for a sniff and taking treats from us. It will be a long journey with this pretty girl but a very worth while one for someone that is willing to put the time and effort in that she so badly needs and deserves.

With other dogs:

Gertie has shown to be very dog social and playful. She currently shares a kennel with her best friend Alex and has lots of friends that she play outside with. 
She can show guarding behaviours around toys but she will give all the warnings first, so as long as the other dogs listens and doesn't try to steal them from her, there will be no problems.
