Introducing.. Amaya!

Amaya's Story:

Amaya was one of the most shut down dogs that we have every seen. The first video that we ever received of her was in a dark, cold and overcrowded shelter in Romania. She had her head buried into a corner, she was skin and bone and absolutely terrified. She spent her days never looking up and just trying to be completely invisible. We still have this video and it is absolutely heart breaking to see.

Luckily, we were in touch with volunteers that were out in Romania that saw her and asked if we could help. How could we say no to this pour soul that had completely given up. She was pulled out of the shelter and straight onto the next transport van to the UK.

She spent weeks hiding out in our bedding area but that was OK. She had a lot of decompressing to do from the past few weeks that she had endured. She was eating well but she would hide away and shake uncontrollably whenever staff were in her presence.

Skip forward several months and Amaya now has lots of dog friends and her favourite thing in the world, other than food, is basking in the sun, she would lay out in it all day if she could <3

Amaya is still too scared to ask for strokes but she is more than willing to come and take treats now which is a huge brave step forward for her.

Amaya still has a very long way to go and it may not be an easy journey once she is in a home but this lady has had such a tough life. She deserves all of the time, patience, love and understanding that can be offered to her.

With other dogs:

Amaya has only ever known kindness from other dogs and has taken comfort in them in her darkest days. We believe that she would be completely lost without another dog in her life and so must be adopted into a home with at least one other resident dog.

With cats:

Amaya is untested with cats. We need to work on being able to handle her and have her be confident enough to have a collar and lead on to be able to take her for cat testing.

Active energy

Amaya shows low energy levels in kennels. She does have a little play with her dog friends now and again but is at her happiest laid out in the sun or in a comfy bed

0 -2 hrs to start

Amaya doesn't show any signs on distress when left alone however we do believe that she would be best being with another dog as this is when she feels at her safest

Lead trained

Amaya is not yet lead trained. This will come once she learns to trust us but this could take a long time

Training required

Amaya has no form of basic training. This will all come in time once she has settled and learnt to fully trust her adopters
