Paw Runner Challenge

TAKE OUR 1 MILE A DAY CHALLENGE

Oakwood Dog Rescue has teamed up with Paw Runner to bring you our '1 MILE A DAY' Challenge throughout September, to encourage you and your dogs to get active, have fun together and strengthen your bond, whilst helping to raise money for our wonderful Dog Rescue.

It is estimated that over 50% of the dogs in the UK are OBESE! Obesity in dogs can lead to a number of health issues like arthritis and typically have a lower quality of life too. A recent study by the University of Liverpool and published in the Journal of Veterinary Internal Medicine showed how overweight dogs could lose over 2 years lifespan! That’s why it’s so important to exercise with your dog.

Whether you are a FITNESS SUPER STAR or a total BEGINNER, you can complete this challenge in your own time, at your own pace, on your own, or with friends, at any place.

The challenge runs throughout September 2020 and can be done as a walk or run (or both!) over the month.

Increasing your daily and weekly exercise habits, whether it be walking or running can make a real positive difference to both you and your dogs life both physically and mentally as it actively promotes:

  • Fun

  • Stimulation

  • Weight management

  • Positive mental health

  • Stress reduction

  • Bonding

  • Longer life

When you smash your goal in the given time frame you will receive a bespoke Oakwood finishers medal and a Paw Runner doggy bandana.

Our medal is bespoke to this challenge and made out of wood from sustainable sources by an independent UK company.
